What is a SpeedPod and how big is it?
A SpeedPod is the modern version of a shipping crate. It is much easier to assemble and much more durable than any wooden crate. SpeedPods are big, they measure 1.2m x 1m x 1m or 1.2 cubic metres. Larger enough to hold 140 shoe boxes, up to 36 archive boxes or up to 36, 12 bottle wooden wine crates (that's 432 bottles). A SpeedPod will consume the entire contents of a medium sized estate car. SpeedPods are also waterproof and dustproof. The ideal place to put your cherished belongings.
How safe is the storage facility?
Safe enough to store the country’s national treasures and archives. Why this example? Simple! The national archives are already being stored in the facility now. Because our storage site is 600 feet below the surface your goods are immune to most threats – even a nuclear war!
How safe is the transport?
Speedpods are moved through a premier pallet network. The pods are locked to prevent tampering. All goods are tracked and monitored. It is probably the safest way of all to transport your goods. The SpeedPod provides complete anonymity and its enclosed contents hidden from view.
Can I store high value items?
If you have very high value items we could arrange personal direct collections, for an additional service charge. Special insurance options are available. It's important that you select the correct level of additional insurance cover.
Do you provide Insurance?
YES. Unlike most other storage companies we offer FREE insurance of £500 per SpeedPod or pallet. Higher levels of cover are also available. We are able to provide these services due to the unique location and nature or our storage facilities.
How do I pack my goods?
Safe good packing is ESSENTIAL. Speedpods are incredibly tough and strong. Delicate items inside will need to be packed well. Speedpods are moved by lorry or truck, natural movement will occur. We suggest that you use plenty of bubble wrap or void fill such as polystyrene beads to reduce air space and potential motion or your goods. Please remember insurance is NOT a substitute for poor packaging. 95% of breakages are caused by inferior packing and this will NOT be covered by insurance.
Can I visit the storage facility?
Customers are NOT allowed to visit the storage area – it is a secure location for a good reason. Our storage facility is ultra secure to defence standards, members of the public are therefore not allowed to access the facility.
Why don’t we include a return charge?
Generally, customers don’t know how long they want to store their goods. Individual and business plans change. Often the return address will be different from the collection address. People may move cities or even countries. We can ship your goods anywhere in the world at very competitive prices.
How do I arrange return of my goods?
When you need your SpeedPod back you simply log into your control panel on our website and choose the shipping options that suit you best. We need 24 hours notice in order to schedule your goods, to be moved to surface level, awaiting shipment. Shipping times vary depending on the speed of service you select and the location you want the goods shipped to. Next working day is possible for most of the UK. Costs vary depending on postcode, but typically the average shipping cost for mainland UK is around £35.
